AI generation

AI writes step titles and descriptions (Generate with AI and the website and browser recorders), turns camera recorder explanations into instructions, translates, generates voiceovers and quiz questions, and translates training course details.

Everything AI produces lands in your private draft. Nothing is published automatically.

Generation tasks​

Translations, voiceovers and quiz generation run as generation tasks on the server. Continue in background lets you keep editing or leave the demo; results stay available for 7 days and the AI generation panel shows them when you return.

  • Apply results saves them into your draft. Applying never publishes.
  • Cancel generation stops the remaining work; completed results stay reviewable, and Retry unfinished work continues from where it stopped.
  • Discard results deletes them. Generating them again uses your allowance again.

Results never overwrite content you edited after generation started. If the source text changed meanwhile, the panel says so; translations of the earlier text can still be applied and are marked as outdated.

AI allowance​

AI use counts toward the selected organization's monthly allowance, shown under AI request usage in Billing. On plans that allow it, your own provider keys are used instead; see AI settings.

When AI is unavailable, the editor says why. The usual causes:

  • Your email address is not verified.
  • Your role is viewer (AI needs editor or above).
  • Your trial ended, or the monthly allowance is used up.
  • Your personal API key is missing or invalid.

What is sent to the AI provider​

  • Writing step text sends the screenshot, the visible page text and nearby step text.
  • Quiz generation sends step titles and descriptions, and the screenshots of slides without a description.
  • Translation and voiceovers send text only, never screenshots.
  • The camera recorder sends your recorded explanation for transcription.

In the editor, covers are applied before a screenshot is sent, so cover sensitive data before you use Generate with AI. Recorder screenshots are sent when you upload or finish, before you can cover anything.
