Hotspots, highlights and text
Hotspot or highlight?
- A Hotspot marks one point to click. In the player, clicking it moves to the next step, so place it exactly on the button or field.
- A Rectangle highlight frames an area to look at, such as a table or a panel, and darkens the rest of the slide. Turn off Darken around the highlighted area when the context matters; it applies to every step on the slide.
- Hide hotspot keeps a step without a marker, for an introduction or a step that only explains.
Drag a hotspot to adjust it. For exact placement across several slides, use Hotspot X (%) and Hotspot Y (%) under Position & coordinates.
Write step text that works
- The Step title names the action: Open the Orders menu. Keep it short, because it also appears in step lists, PDF bookmarks and the Overview export layout.
- The Description adds what the viewer cannot see in the screenshot: what to enter, what happens next, or why it matters. Avoid repeating the title.
- Without a narration script, the voiceover reads the description, so write it to be heard as well as read.
- Text inside screenshots is never translated. Put anything viewers must understand in the step text.
Generate with AI drafts both from the screenshot. Review the result before publishing.
Text layout
Text box floats next to the hotspot and is placed automatically; drag it on the canvas when it covers something important, and Reset text box position to place it automatically again. Text banner runs along the bottom of the slide, the same place for every step. Mask shows no text, which suits steps where a voiceover carries the explanation. Colors and fonts come from the demo's branding.
Focus and zoom
Zoom enlarges part of the screenshot during the step, which helps with small controls on large screens or recordings played on phones. Open Focus / zoom in the Step panel: Zoom to selection fits the hotspot or highlight, and Draw zoom area lets you frame any detail. Preview animation plays the result.
Animation and timing
Under Animation & timing in the Step panel, each slide can override the demo's auto-continue settings: Disabled (manual) waits for the viewer's click, and while auto-continue is on, Advance after (sec) sets how long the step stays before continuing. Automatic advance always waits for the voiceover to finish. The Slide transition plays when the slide appears, not between steps of the same slide.
