Slides and steps
A slide owns the screenshot or media, its hidden regions and its transition. A step owns everything else: title, description, hotspot, zoom, timing, voiceover and analytics. Keep this split in mind when you edit, because a change to a slide affects all of its steps.
Several steps on one slide
Use several steps when viewers should do more than one thing on the same screen, such as filling in three fields of a form. The screenshot stays in place while the hotspot moves, and the hotspots are numbered so viewers see the order; clicking a numbered hotspot jumps to that step.
- Add step on this slide adds a step that shares the screenshot.
- Covers, blur, the transition and the slide's auto-continue setting apply to every step on the slide.
- Move step to a new slide gives a step its own copy of the screenshot, for example when one step needs different covers.
Recorders put consecutive clicks on an unchanged screen on one slide automatically.
Reorder and duplicate slides
Drag a slide in the slide list to move it, or focus it and press Alt/⌥ with the up or down arrow. On a phone, use Move slide up and Move slide down in the slide's ⋯ menu.
Duplicate slide inserts a copy with all its steps and translations directly after the original. The copy starts without analytics of its own.
Title slides
Add title slide inserts a text-only slide with a Title and Subtitle. Use it to separate the chapters of a long demo; in training courses it gives learners a natural pause.
Replace a screenshot
Replace screenshot in the Step panel swaps the image and keeps the steps, text and hotspots, but clears the slide's covers and blur. Check the hotspot positions and redraw the covers afterwards. On a slide with several steps, the editor asks first, because the change applies to all of them.
Delete and restore
Delete step keeps the slide's other steps; Delete slide removes the slide with all its steps. Use Undo right away, or restore an earlier version from Version history.
Limits
A demo can hold up to 250 steps. Each slide can hold up to 20 inserted elements (text, arrows, highlighters, images and videos), including up to 8 images.
