Custom domain

Owners and admins, on plans that include custom domains. A custom domain lets your published demos use an address like demos.example.com instead of the platform address. Use a subdomain dedicated to demos; it cannot also serve your website.

Connect a domain

  1. In Organization settings → Custom domain, enter the domain without https:// or a path, for example demos.example.com, and select Connect domain.
  2. Choose a DNS connection method and create the records shown at your DNS provider:
    • CNAME (recommended) — one record that routes your subdomain and proves ownership.
    • A record — an A record for routing plus a verification CNAME. Both are required.
  3. Select Check connection. Demo-Creator verifies ownership and sets up HTTPS automatically.

When the status shows Connected, new share links and embeds use your domain.

DNS settings

Use DNS-only mode (turn off any proxying in your DNS provider). Some providers want only the part before your base domain as the record name. Remove conflicting A, AAAA or CNAME records for the same host name. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to spread.

What the custom domain serves

  • Only published demos and their anonymous analytics. Sign-in and editing stay on the main application.
  • The domain's root shows a simple welcome page for your organization, without listing demos.
  • Existing links and embeds on the main address keep working; update them yourself if you want them on the new domain.

Troubleshooting

Status or messageWhat to do
Waiting for DNS — the domain does not resolve yetCheck the records and try again once they have propagated.
The unique verification record was not foundCopy the CNAME target exactly as shown.
The domain points to an unexpected serverUse the addresses shown, remove AAAA records and turn off DNS proxying.
Setting up HTTPSDNS is verified; the certificate is being issued. Check again in a minute. If it persists, ask your platform administrator to check certificate issuance and public ports 80 and 443.
Already connected to another organizationEach domain can belong to only one organization.
Custom domains are not enabled yetYour platform administrator must enable custom domains on this installation.

Change or disconnect

Changing the address or selecting Disconnect domain stops links and embeds on the current custom domain immediately, so update every page that embeds them first. Original app links remain available. A new domain must be verified before you share it.
